A single family house that utilizes a compact footprint and 3 storey configuration to reduce building costs and take advantage of views to the adjacent park space as well as the Stawamus Chief and Howe Sound. A ‘rooftop’ courtyard, above the ground level garage, creates a private outdoor space for the client, shrouding their social space from adjacent neighbours and framing distant views. A simple palette of white fiber cement board, black corrugated steel, concrete and douglas fir create a modern take on a more traditional Victorian housing palette.
